Video: Band perform material from upcoming album as classic-era singer Perry is seen at record label office, fuelling comeback rumours
Journey have unveiled five tracks from their upcoming album Eclipse – while classic-era singer Steve Perry is rumoured to be coming closer to ending his retirement.
The AOR icons, now fronted by Arnel Pineda, performed the songs Edge of the Moment, Resonate, Chain of Love, City of Hope and Human Feel during a concert in Las Vegas.
Eclipse will be released on May 24, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain tells Boomerocity: “It’s very guitar-driver. Neil Schon wanted to do a heavier rock album so it has very little of me keyboard-wise.
“It’s a hard-hitting record that has some conscience to it. It’s about spirituality and sexuality. It’s a departure º it’s more like a concept record. Arnel sounds great and it’s probably one of Neal’s best guitar albums. He was on a mission to play – and he did.”
Meanwhile, Perry recently said he’d been writing new songs, and now rumours are circulating that he’s signed a record deal.
The singer’s Facebook page repeats a Twitter comment: “Steve Perry spotted leaving Capitol Records yesterday after 5pm. CD out soon.”
But the page administrator says: “Until you see an official statement, take everything you read with a grain of salt.”
