Former frontman Leach refuses to confirm or deny whether he’ll return – and insists he’ll support band whatever they decide
Former Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach wants fans to enjoy the mystery of not knowing if he’s returning to the band.
So he won’t confirm or deny whether he’s been asked to replace Howard Jones, who parted company with the metalcore outfit earlier this month.
Leach tells Loud: “I’m not going to comment. I’d rather those guys go through what they’ve got to go through. They’re good friends of mine, so I’m respecting their space at the moment.
“It’s more fun, more mystery, too – you don’t have to know everything. These days everybody is on Facebook and tweeting everything that happens. What happened to the mystery of music and not knowing everything?”
Leach remains proud of Alive or Just Breathing, the last KSE album to feature his lead vocals, released a decade ago.
“It’s one of those records that doesn’t leave me,” he says. “I fought against it for a while after leaving – I wanted to turn over a new leaf. It was the right record at the right place at the right time. It’s a career-defining album for me. If I had a resume as a musician, it would be the highlight.”
Jones took over when Leach left in 2002. On January 4 this year KSE confirmed they’d parted ways, and Jones later admitted his heart wasn’t in the band any more. In recent years Leach formed Times of Grace with KSE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and the pair are set to tour Australia next month.
